“It’s that time of the year again!

As Anugoonj 2015 draws closer, the main campus is buzzing with activity, being the site for the event. Students have high expectations from this year’s edition of the fest. Colourful tales of Anugoonj 2014, which was a grand success, are flying around the campus, raising hopes in the minds of those who will be attending the fest for the first time.

This year, the organisers have a spectacular line-up in store for the students, with numerous events under the categories of Dance, Music, Fine Arts, Literary and Dramatics. Mr. and Ms. Anugoonj, and the Battle of the Bands will also be conducted. Many of the visiting students are looking forward to the street dance event and Battle of the Bands. The jam session at the DJ pavilion is expected to see a lot of footfall as well. “I am really looking forward to the battle of the bands, western solo, western group and jam session”, says Mansi Sharma of USS.

The Star Nights are undoubtedly the most popular event at the fest, the one that attracts the most crowds. This time around, well-known fusion rock band Indian Ocean and Bollywood singer Javed Ali will grace the evenings. The news of Javed Ali’s presence at the fest was met with a lot of enthusiasm and glee, with the event being the highlight for many in the university. “I am eagerly waiting for Javed Ali’s performance and am extremely excited for the extravaganza”, says Priyanka Marwaha. Echoing her thoughts is Ritwik Singhal, who is of the belief that Javed Ali’s performance will be a truly grand one.

The program coordinators, event coordinators and student council are putting in their blood, sweat and tears to make the event an unforgettable one. The aim is to have a safe, yet fun-filled Anugoonj, according to University President Sohan Kumar, as said to fellow ConnectUSS reporter Siddharth Gupta. The teams representing USS in the fest are also putting in a lot of effort with fervour and determination to leave a mark.

The preparations for Anugoonj are in full-swing and can be seen in the campus. The two stages for the event, the venue for events like the Star Nights and Battle of the Bands are being assembled. The canteen is stocking up on a variety of food and stalls are being set up especially for the event. Hoardings have been put up around the campus, announcing the fest and the schedule for the fest in hues of blue, yellow and red, the colours for Anugoonj 2015.

“There are a lot of hopes from Anugoonj this year. I expect a refreshing touch in the new semester, a full-on break after Major exams and of course, enjoyment in the atmosphere”, says Kamaldeep Singh.
“I am excited in the anticipation of meeting a lot of new people, seeing talent around and being surrounded by lots of colors and activity,” says Anubha Aggarwal. Anugoonj 2015 promises to surpass all our expectations, and be a truly memorable one. Set in store is a weekend of fun, the final countdown has begun!
